POSITION TITLE:  Part-Time Parent Engagement Coordinator

The Latino Policy Forum seeks a Parent Engagement Coordinator to assist the program administrator in the coordination of early care and education service providers for the implementation of the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors, a parent engagement and parent leadership training program for Latino parents with children 0-5 years of age.  This is a part-time contract position of 25 hours/week for 18 months; there is no administrative support.

The Forum is the only organization in the Chicago area facilitating Latino involvement in public decision-making.  The Forum conducts analysis to inform, influence and lead. Its goals are to improve education outcomes, advocate for affordable housing, promote just immigration policies, and engage diverse sectors of the community, with an understanding that advancing Latinos advances a shared future.

Candidate will be strongly grounded in parent engagement and early care and education issues. The ideal candidate will have the ability to maintain frequent/extensive contact with participating early care and education organizations and leaders in the Chicago area.  Candidate must be able to communicate effectively (written/oral) in both English and Spanish.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, two (2) key areas:

1. Strategically focused parent engagement education. The candidate will:
  • Be responsible for coordinating with/to the Forum in convening a parent engagement program for community-based sites.
  • Assist with the identification of/coordinate with ten (10) sites that will participate in the parent engagement curriculum/cohort model.
  • Develop/prepare agendas, materials, training, and focus groups on parent engagement issues for meetings, site visits, and coaching.
  • Assist with planning, facilitate meetings, and implement the organization’s parent engagement project.
  • Plan/coordinate/provide information, referrals, and technical assistance.

2. Data collection, analysis, reporting.  The candidate will:
  • Maintain detailed documentation on all site visits and interactions with organizations involved in the parent engagement project.
  • Assist with maintaining all parent engagement files, records.
  • Design/produce and compose/deliver support materials for on-site parent engagement program facilitation.
  • Assist in project development, reporting and evaluation.

Additional Qualifications
Three to five (3-5) years of applicable experience.  BA required; advanced degree preferred.  Exercises sound judgment; is professional at all times; manages multiple assignments.  Access to a car and a valid driver’s license and insurance a must.
