Adriana Díaz

Communications Manager

Adriana Díaz is a communications professional and new media strategist deeply committed to promoting the intersection of civic engagement and social justice.

With roots in radio, community journalism, youth-media advocacy and nonprofit communications, Adriana has long believed in the power of using stories for social change.

As the Forum's communications manager she oversees the organization's digital content and media relations strategies. Before the Forum, she worked as the new media manager at Community Media Workshop, where she oversaw the development and implementation of the Workshop’s strategic online communications. She also worked as the director of youth media development and research for Radio Arte, a Latino-owned, youth-driven public radio station, where she spearheaded a comprehensive bilingual one-year media training program and led a curriculum makeover for the training program as Radio Arte transitioned from radio to diverse digital platforms.

Her writing has appeared in Extra Newspaper, The Gate, Medill Reports, Remezcla.com, KWLM AM 1340 and KKOH AM 780.

A Southwesterner by birth, she claimed Chicago as her soul city in 2003. She is passionate about bridging communities and spends her time outside the Forum serving as a board member of Mujeres Latinas en Acción and co-chairing Mujeres’ Young Professionals Advisory Council; she's a member of the Leadership Committee of Women Employed's Advocacy Council; works with Victory Garden’s Council of Community Leaders; and was recently nominated board chair of City Bureau— a new journalism initiative in Chicago that trains young community journalists to improve coverage of underreported neighborhoods.

Adriana received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and Composition from DePaul University, and a Master of Science from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
