SUPERVISES:                      Latino Agenda Analyst, Immigration Analyst and Multicultural Leadership Academy Coordinator

SALARY:                               60-65K

The mission of the Latino Policy Forum is to build the power, influence, and leadership of the Latino community through collective action to transform public policies that ensure the well-being of its community and society as a whole. The Forum works to improve education outcomes for Latino children, address housing issues, advance an agenda on immigration reform and immigrant integration, and engage in strengthening the capacity of the Latino community. 

The Civic Engagement Manager is a strategic thinker rooted in policy and can guide all agendas within the department. The position oversees staff and all tasks related to the department's projects; Leadership Academy, immigration, housing, and Illinois Latino Agenda --taking the lead on the housing policy agenda, as appropriate. The Manager will provide leadership to the organization’s advocacy and outreach efforts, and be able to generate, analyze, articulate (written/oral) the Forum’s policy proposals through briefs, reports, research and analysis, testimonials, data and advocacy strategies. The position meets regularly with elected officials, government administrators, community leaders, and other relevant stakeholders and supports all civic engagement led meetings and events. The Manager assists in proposal development, writing, and budgeting for the departments issues areas and ensures compliance. The position requires a great deal of flexibility and drive, the ability to manage multiple issues priorities, decision-making skills, team-building and goal setting. In reinforcing the Forum’s immigration, housing, and leadership agenda and goals, the CE Manager advances opportunities, programming, and access for Latinos across the state.

Qualifications

M.A. in policy or related field required; Three – five years’ experience in nonprofits, immigration, housing, work in the Latino community, and/or prior experience in related issues. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred but not required. Highly motivated and comfortable managing multiple assignments and staff. Superior communications (writing/speaking/presentation) and interpersonal skills required. Aptitude for taking initiative and problem solving. Working knowledge of Salesforce. Proficient in MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Internet.
