POSITION TITLE:                Graphic Design Intern

DEPARTMENT:                  Communications

REPORTS TO:                      Communications Manager

STIPEND:                             $5 Daily for Travel

The mission of the Latino Policy Forum is to build the power, influence, and leadership of the Latino community through collective action to transform public policies that ensure the well-being of its community and society. The Forum works to improve education outcomes for Latino children, address housing issues, advance an agenda on immigration reform and immigrant integration, and engage in strengthening the capacity of the Latino community through leadership development in the Chicago area.

 

The Forum seeks a graphic design intern to join the communications team.  This intern will provide visual media development and execution for branded promotional items including but not limited to: Census 2020 materials, website and social media graphics, postcards, programs, advertisements, handouts, brochures, flyers, posters, and signage. A passion for the elements of design needed for content layout with and without templates. Current students or recent college graduates are encouraged to apply. This unpaid internship position offers an excellent opportunity for skills development and portfolio-building, along with networking. Interns will be asked to work a minimum of 10 hours per week and have the option to work remotely.

Qualifications

Excellent graphic and web design skills, with a keen ability to translate a design proposal into an effective design. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign. An understanding of digital, mobile and social with experience with social media tools and campaigns preferred. Knowledge of Latino community issues or demonstrated ability to learn and synthesize new information quickly. Superior English-language writing skills are preferred
