Carlos Lopez

Research Assistant and Mapper

Carlos Lopez is a Research Assistant and Mapper at the Latino Policy Forum. His work includes the analysis and visualization of data through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Carlos is a former two-term AmeriCorps VISTA member.  In 2009, he spent his first term as Service Learning Coordinator at College of DuPage and his second term in 2010 at the Mayor’s Office at the City of Chicago with One Good Deed Chicago. At College of DuPage he connected students to the community through service learning and volunteerism. Through One Good Deed Chicago he helped grow civic engagement, build a volunteer pipeline, and amplify the mission of non-profit organizations in Chicago.  

 In 2013 Carlos received his B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in Urban and Public Affairs. During his time he completed the Certificate in Geospatial Analysis and Visualization from the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs.  Carlos’s GIS experience ranges from mapping food deserts, creating transit maps, and measuring trends in housing and demographics.
