Cindy Camacho

Education Policy Analyst

Cindy Camacho is the Education Policy Analyst at the Latino Policy Forum. She is dedicated to finding solutions to educational inequalities experienced by Latinos and English learners by developing and implementing policy proposals and advocacy strategies that support these communities. Her work focuses on providing analysis and information to legislators, community partners, parents, teachers, and community members regarding issues in early childhood education that affect Latino families. To collectively create and execute an advocacy agenda and policy recommendations that reflect community needs, Cindy co-manages the Education Acuerdo, a working group of early childhood education community-based organizations. Additionally, she is a trainer for Opening Doors/Abriendo Puertas, the nation’s first evidence-based, popular education, program for bilingual parent leaders.

Cindy brings over a decade of experience in the non-profit and philanthropic sectors. She has partnered with school systems, community-based organizations, families, and local leaders to create, implement, and evaluate programs for Latino and immigrant communities. She has served as Site Coordinator for America Reads and Programs Coordinator for Family Service of Lake County. In Chicago, she provided clinical domestic violence services to clients at Metropolitan Family Services, mentored Woodlawn youth through the University of Chicago’s Summer Service Partnership, and worked as a grantmaker at the Polk Bros. Foundation.

Cindy earned a BA in Sociology from Oberlin College and a MA in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration.
