The Forum supports this statement by the Latino Advisory Committee

Over the last two years, members of the LAC have attempted to work in good faith with Forrest Claypool to address the inequities in the districts. We offered a plan to increase the number of Latino teachers and administrators to better serve all students. Today I am are gravely disappointed at the inequitable treatment Black and Brown students recieve in CPS .  Whether intentional or not, the impact is the same, Latino children and ALL children continue to be short changed in receiving the quality education that they deserve.  It is disingenuous of Mr. Claypool to say that the Governor is treating CPS inequitably when the same pattern is being repeated by him towards our students.

As members of the Latino Advisory Committee we have not been consulted, or informed. In fact, it is clear that Mr. Claypool  has not valued the Committee’s insight or perspective since he has not called upon it, has not acted on the majority of recommendations that the Committee has proposed, and has not met with the committee in over 6 months.

We have yet to see a willingness to work with community members to address the crisis we are in and the impact its having on students, families and our neighborhoods
