Fundraising Intern

POSITION TITLE: Fundraising Intern – part-time, unpaid

DEPARTMENT: Institutional Advancement, Development/Fundraising

REPORTS TO: External Relations, Development Manager

DATE: July 2016

The Forum is seeking a responsible and motivated individual to assist with its development, fund-raising, and annual event work. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and engage in meaningful work for a regionally-renowned nonprofit organization. The internship is designed to be both educational and practical—the intern will gain experience in how a nonprofit agency functions with particular focus on revenue generating strategies.

The mission of the Latino Policy Forum is to build the power, influence, and leadership of the Latino community through collective action to transform public policies that ensure the well-being of its community and society as a whole. The Forum works to improve education outcomes for Latino children, address housing issues, advance an agenda on immigration reform and immigrant integration, and engage in building the capacity of the Latino community. 

Responsibilities:

Qualifications: 

Recent graduate/current student in graduate/undergraduate program with an interest and aptitude for working in nonprofit. Superior communications and interpersonal skills. Self-starter, with proven ability to meet goals/deadlines, manage multiple priorities. Bi-lingual: Spanish, English a plus. Experience working with fundraising, events, planning, development, volunteers preferred. Technologically skilled; experience with all Windows and Microsoft Office applications, Internet, social media; willingness to learn Salesforce.

This internship is unpaid. The Forum support interns in their efforts to obtain college credit (when permitted by the university) for their work at the agency.  The intern will receive necessary training and staff supervision.  An internship of 10 hours per week for a minimum of 6-10 months is preferred; longer internships are encouraged.
