The Latino Policy Forum’s mission is to build the power, influence, and leadership of the Latino community through collective action to transform public policies that ensure the well-being of its community and society. Through advocacy and analysis, the Forum builds a foundation for equity, justice and economic prosperity for the Latino community. By catalyzing policy change, the Forum works to improve education outcomes, advocate for affordable housing, promote just immigration policies and strengthen community leadership.
Job Summary: The Forum seeks a highly-motivated Associate Director who will provide organizational leadership as part of the Senior Management Team. The successful candidate will work directly with the executive director to ensure organizational initiatives and deliverables are strategic, met and within budget. The individual will ensure the effective functioning of all departments, develop and implement strategies to strengthen operational excellence, fundraising, fiscal management, communications and marketing, and lead the development of annual and strategic plans. They will supervise, manage, and coordinate the Operations, Communication, Finance, and Development Managers and their work. They will track measurement and progress towards organizational goals and outcomes, including education and civic engagement policy initiatives. The ideal candidate will be able to propose strategic initiatives that ensure excellence within the agency and with external partners, as well as oversee day-to-day operations.
Major responsibilities:
- Project Management
- Manage key performance indicator process and its implementation to track departmental progress and performance, setting standards for accountability and measurement of success
- Oversee implementation of fundraising and internal/external communications –including traditional/digital media; ensuring effective integration of communications and development to strengthen organizational brand and fundraising efforts
- Internal Operations Management
- Responsible for day-to-day operations, policies, and procedures across all teams, ensuring quality, excellence, consistency, efficiency, and best practice to achieve strategic goals
- Provide leadership in development of inter-team communications and cohesiveness,
- Cultivate and exemplify an organizational culture of commitment, as well as a healthy, supportive, collaborative work environment and culture
- Lead development of annual budget process and recommend resource allocation; monitor and forecast budgets and revenue, provide oversight to purchasing, payroll, expenses; contracts/vendors/building
- Ensure effective use of SalesForce and IT/technology, including database management
- Develop, update and ensure compliance with all applicable human resource laws, policies and procedures, including:
- Recruit, hire, evaluate, terminate
- Oversee performance review process
- Support/empower staff; resolve internal conflicts
- Oversee agency training/professional development efforts
- Provide oversight to co-employer relationship
- Lead annual planning
- External Operations Management
- Ensure development and implementation of a strategic fundraising plan: ensure out-going funding proposals and reports are consistent with annual goals; oversee delivery of annual fund-raising event; oversee identification, solicitation and research of new foundation, corporate and individual funding prospects
- Ensure effective communications with the Board of Directors; develop and update board orientation manual
- Supervise operations manager, development manager, communications manager, and finance manager
Qualifications:
MA/MS preferred. Demonstrated leadership/supervisory skills within an organization. Experience in project management, budget/finance/fund-raising/database management. Experience with all Windows/Microsoft Office applications and SalesForce contact management. Minimum of seven years related experience in nonprofit and/or work in Latino community. Superior communications and interpersonal skills. Bilingual a plus.
